End of life

My aunt has stage 4 lung and spine mestatasis . She's had all her treatments now . I'm caring for her at home. She's 73 lively at times but seems in denial too. She's deteriorating but her breathing isn't too bad but she's losing weight, in terrible pain down her arm and side. Clammy, hoarse voice was diagnosed October 2021. Or b4 ?. And she hallucinates at night , I really really need to know how long she's got ?

  • Hi Torquay1969,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your aunt - it sounds like you're dealing with a lot at the moment and I hope you're getting on OK.

Unfortunately it will only be your aunt's doctor/specialist who can advise on what to potentially expect. Even then it will be a best guess based on others they've seen. Do speak to them about this when you can, as it's important that you are as prepared as possible.

I hope you have other support around you, and remember to keep looking after yourself too. We're always here on the forum if you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi Torquay 1969

I very sorry to hear abou your aunt .I lost my mum in July to a brain lymphoma . although there's no way to know exactly how much longer your aunt will have left I can tell you what my mum was like .she moved in with me when we found out it was terminal and she live for five weeks at first she was able to get about the house with a walking frame but she quickly deteriorated and became bed bound  she slept more and more and she also hallucinated this started about two weeks before she died.the carers told me there are signs nearer the end when the body I shutting down It sends blood to the major organs that need it so the hands ,feet and knees start to turn blue and blotchy this is what happened to my mum and in the last day she went unconscious and her breathing got slower through out the day .I hope this has helped you in some small way but like I said every ending is different x michelle
