Hi all.
We have had very little information from the hospital since my dad was diagnosed three weeks ago with terminal liver cancer. The biopsies and scan showed he has a ten cm tumour but it has not spread. He has liver cirrhosis too.
He is 80 years old and not in the best of health. My main question is if anyone out there in a similar situation with a family member or themselves? My Dad has lost a stone and half in weight in three weeks, he's very forgetful and confused at times and he's sleeping so much. He's in pain but it is mostly being controlled by pain killers.
As we have had no prognosis or treatment options, I was wondering if someone can tell me whether these are signs that he is going downhill rapidly? It feels like that... I know this probably seems like a stupid question but we, as a family, simply have no idea what to expect. The Hospice Nurse is coming round to see him tomorrow (the first medical person to see him in three weeks since he was discharged from hospital)
Can anyone give us any idea of what to expect? Can localised liver cancer cause someone to die quickly? I find it hard to know if localised cancer can kill or whether its only when it spreads? Again, I'm sorry if these are stupid questions.
Thanks I'm advance.
