Enzalutamide Didn’t work

Hi all ,

My Dad has stage 4 advanced prostate cancer, diagnosed Oct 2021 and given injections immediately and then started Enzalutamide but looking at the notes they stopped this after about 4/5 months as the psa was rising( diagnosed 700, dropped to 8 and went up by about 50-100 each month).

chemo was recently attempted and that was stopped as made him worse.

He's now been told just like that no treatment? No other tablets given and I was wondering is this rare for Enzalutamide to not work ? And is there a reason for this ?

he has some in his bones but this was helped with radiotherapy and he is now walking again.

now he's just been left with pain relief and blood transfusions.

anyone else been in a similar situation? The family are shocked nothing more is being looked at and what now .

thanks for reading

  • Hello Sussex99

I'm so sorry to hear that the treatments your dad has had for his prostate cancer haven't been successful in lowering his PSA. It's understandable that you're feeling a rollercoaster of emotions at the moment and want to make sure that all possible avenues of management have been discussed with your Dad.

I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to talk through your questions and concerns with them. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that your Dad has all the support he needs and that the team is able to keep him comfortable.

    Best wishes,
