Daughter diagnosed with Advanced Bowel Cancer

Our youngest daughter was diagnosed with Advanced bowel cancer last november. As you can imagine its turned our world upside down. A week later she had a Colostomy operation. She is absolutely amazing with it. Early December the treatment of Chemotherapy was started. After her 7th treatment and CT scan thankfully no evidence of disease is in the Bowel and her CEA levels came down from 3000 to 1. Absolutely amazing !! The Liver is the concern. All segments did have multiple Mets, Segment 1 is now clear. Its the other 7 that need to be shrunk!! Her treatment continues...completed 15 to date. The aim is to become operable and have a resection. She is very positive, strong and determined to BEAT this awful disease. Any members with words of advise would be appreciated. Thank you xxxx

  • Hello,

sorry to read of your daughters struggles, but really pleased to hear of her positivity. It can make an awful lot of difference to the eventual outcome.l had the same diagnosis and went on to have resection of bowel and excision of 60% of the liver eight years ago now..It was a long and challenging journey, with my daily aim just to keep putting one foot in front of the other moving forward.Eventually the snails crawl speeds up a bit and you begin to see some daylight.

Please tell her from a survivor, that even on the most desperate days, keep trudging ahead, the payback can come in the future when you can skip back into living your life,

                                                                                   best wishes,

                                                                                                          David

  • Thank you David, your message is very comforting. I will certainly tell her about you and your journey. Thank you for sharing this.

    Best wishes
