Steroids for end of life care

Hi,

My grandad has lung cancer and is extremely poorly now. He was given steroids 5 days ago but these have made no difference whatsoever.  Can it be the case that sometimes they don't have any affect? My grandma passed away of bowel cancer but when she taking steroids they really gave her a boost so I was expecting the same for my grandad but this isn't the case :(.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Lindsey.W although I'm very sorry to hear that the steroids haven't seemed to help your grandad.

    Unfortunately I can't answer your question about this but our lovely and insightful team of cancer nurses may be able to help so if you'd like to discuss this with them, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and will do all they can to help.
