About my Husband - advanced lung cancer, cough really bad

Hi my Husband is 70 and in May was diagnosed with Lung Cancer with secondary Brain Metastasis. All a shock as up until then he was perfectly healthy.  He started to get a cough in April and then all the scans etc started. Once he had his diagnoses and prognosis he has just slept and coughed. The cough has gradually worsened and we have gone from a linctus with Codeine to oral Morphine which seemed to have helped and he was managing to sleep. He then had his Radiotherapy treatment last Wednesday for the Brain Metastasis he seemed really good for a couple of days but his cough has come back with a vengeance. I just wondered if anyone else has this problem.

  • A warm welcome to our Cancer Chat community BudStella although I'm very sorry to hear about your husband.

This must be very tough but fingers crossed the treatment he has had so far is helping.

If your husband's cough continues to get worse do be sure to let his cancer team know. You're welcome to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m but hopefully some of our members who have contended with this will get back to you soon as well.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but I am thinking of you both and wishing you all the best on this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
