Hi all
My husband was diagnosed November 5th 2020 with metastatic bowel cancer which had moved to his liver and was given 6 to 12 months. He received palliative chemo but all treatment was stopped December 2021 as his tumours were no longer responding to any treatment and he had exhausted all combinations.
He has defied whatever approximate timescales given and was told Christmas when treatment was stopped 3 to 6 months.
Hes now becomming very poorly, his mobility is now bad and struggles and is very unsteady getting in and out of bed to the few steps to the bathroom.
He is either badly constipated where I struggle to get the pain under control or he has diahorrhea. This week I have had to call out the district nurses 3 times for him to get injections to stop nausea or give him suppositories into his stoma.
He eats very very little today just a banana and a small chocolate bar....most days the last few weeks it's been just a few mouthfuls of cereal and half a sandwich daily is all he will have. He sleeps probably 20hrs a day and his weight is now 60kg he's 6ft tall so very little of him.
We decided together that he will be at home and is now on hospice at home care but neither his hospice nurse, GP or district nurses will give me an idea of what I am looking at ....does he have weeks, months, days....
I understand some spouses wouldn't want to know but I feel I need to have an idea on how long we have got with each other and so I can prepare my children also
Can anyone advise me
