My husband 62 now discovered with the blood test colonoscopy and CT scan a year ago that he has metastatic colon cancer. The cancer team started on chemotherapy as that was the only mode of treatment they suggested. They did 3 episodes of chemotherapies 3 months each with the CT scan at the end but unfortunately none of them were successful and the cancer kept growing every time!! He had the complications of blockage during December last year and had to go through eliostomy and stoma bag and then severe infection in the blood for which he stayed in hospital for the whole of June last month! He wasn't eating much before he went to hospital but ever since he has come back from hospital last week, he has refused food completely and doesn't want any solids! He is living on water and altraplan the protein shakes and has gone so weak and frail! He is in bed all the time and has no energy even to talk or to go to the bathroom! He is totally dependent on me for his personal jobs! The cancer team has given 3 weeks to feel better then going to do another chemotherapy to manage his condition so that the cancer doesn't grow further instead of shrinking it!! I feel so helpless and not sure what to do? I am extremely upset that he has deteriorated so quickly within a year!! I am not sure if he will be able to tolerate another chemotherapy and even if he does go through it whether it will be successful or would make his condition worst!! Please share similar experiences because it helps and any suggestions which could help.
Thanks so much
