Defactinib with VS-6766 trial

Hi, I know its a relatively new trial, but is there anyone on here with experience of taking Defractinib and VS-6766?

My Dad is on the trial for pancreatic cancer and very quickly it seems there's a particular side effect that is unbearable. We wondered if there is anyone on here who might share their experience with us?

He is wondering if it is worth continuing.  The advice from the centre is to stop if he feels he can't continue, but if we had shared experiences he might be able to make a better decision.

  • Hello HM74 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm very sorry to hear your dad has pancreatic cancer and that he's having quite a difficult time with one of the side effects from the trial he's currently on.

Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone on the forum who is also on this trial at the moment but you may have more luck within the Pancreatic Cancer UK community

If either of you would like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Whatever your dad decides to do, I want you to know we're thinking of you and wishing him all the best on this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Thank you Steph. I have posted in there too but no luck so far.

I wish there was someone we could talk to with direct experience, but it doesn't look like there's many who have been in the trial.

I did find some study results online, suggesting my Dad is in the 5% who experience severe side effects. Again, I just wish we could talk to some of the 5% but it doesn't look like we will find anyone. It's frustrating because the results look really positive.

    Thank you again.
