Hi all

This is New to me, but my husband was diagnosed with OC In march, he has had 3 scans so far, blood tests and a consultation. He has lost so much weight in this time, and finds it very difficult to swallow,. We have a meeting with Oncologist   we know it is stage 4,

How do I cope with this

I know it's not about me, but I'm so scared things will turn out for the worse

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Nange although I'm sorry to hear your husband has been diagnosed with stage 4 oesophageal cancer.

Cancer doesn't just affect the person who has been diagnosed. It also affects their partners, family and friends so please don't feel bad or guilty for how you are feeling at the moment as it's completely understandable, and natural, to be scared or wonder how you are going to get through this. Supporting a partner with cancer can be very tough but as our members will tell you, you are not alone and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

I'm not sure from your post when your meeting with the oncologist is but I want to wish you both the best of luck and let you know we'll be thinking of you. If either of you have any questions after you're spoken with them then you're very welcome to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and will do all they can to help.

We're here for you Nange, and wishing you and your husband all the very best on this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
