Trying to keep positive but it’s so hard

My mum was diagnosed a year ago with endometrial cancer which had spread. After a seemingly successful course of chemo, she had a hysterectomy and was told she was cancer free. This wasn't the case and a few months later she was told there were still pockets of cancer so onto another course of a different chemo. Today we've been told it's not working. I'm devastated, the rollercoaster of diagnosis, treatment, elation at treatment working, devastation it came back.......they have offered her to go back on the first chemo or refer for a clinical trial but I feel like I'm losing hope and so is mum. She is too young to leave us, and I just don't know how to stay positive.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis and that the recent treatment she's had wasn't successful. It's completely understandable that you're feeling devastated by this news and I know many of our members will have experienced the same rollercoaster that you've described.

I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them. I know that many of our members have found it helpful to be able to chat with someone about all that they've experienced and I'm sure the nurses will be happy to offer any advice and support that they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

In the meantime be kind to yourselves. Try to not focus too far ahead as this will certainly leave you feeling more anxious. Take each day as it comes and lean on those around you for support.

    Best wishes,
