Throat cancer- financial assistance & what can I do to help?

Hello dear friends!

My friend and father of two beautiful young children most likely has throat cancer.

He had a biopsy done the day before and is currently on antibiotics. Due to his health condition he had to be absent from work. Given his current mental illness and suffering, he is unable to begin research into what financial assistance he could receive. I worry about him because he takes care of his two lovely children on his own (three days a week, the rest of them are with their mothers) and has a mortgage. This is a great shock, both for him and for us, his friends.

I would be very grateful if I could get advice on what I can do for him as he fights cancer. Thanks in advance!

  • Hello Ivaylo

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's potential diagnosis. It's obviously a difficult time for him and I'm sure that he appreciates any support that you and the rest of his friends are able to offer.

I'd recommend having a look at the financial guidance information on the Macmillan website as a starting point. They also have a phone line that you can call for advice.

If your friend is diagnosed with throat cancer then you may want to encourage him to have a look at some of the posts here on the forum. We have an active group of members who have been through treatment for throat/oral cancers and they are a very supportive bunch of people. I'm sure they would welcome him and share their advice and support.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
