I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. My father was diagnosed with SCC of the tongue with no distant spread in May last year. It was caught so late that it had invaded the mandible and it was deemed nonoperable and he developed a malignant tumour on his chin. He did have one session of radiotherapy, but it was more for symptom management. I am so sorry you are going through this xx

I am so sorry to hear about your dad it's the worst feeling in the world my mum is in so much pain I'm hoping tomorrow they can help ease her pain better

Yes, unfortunately the surgery wasn't an option because of his age (72) and the fact that they would have had to take all of the tongue away, most of the jaw and more so it just wasn't viable. He did have a feeding tube as he was unable to eat and swallowing got harder x

Thanks for the reply Im hoping they will offer her some sort of treatment I'm just scared they won't with her age and how much weight she has lost xx

Just an update mum had 2 weeks of radiotherapy seemed to of helped a bit but now seems to be getting worse doctors haven't given us a timescale of how long she has left I don't think I'm ready to loose her anytime soon but need to know a rough idea of how long I have left with her
