Lung Cancer

My Dad of 84 has been diagnosed with Lung cancer on Christmas DAY 2021. He has slept most of today. He has a very challenging weekend when he had to receive 2 morphine injections. My Mother 85 is still. I am the main carer. Dad and I had a chat today and I said to him that he had taught me to fight and overcome things in life. I told Dad to fight this thing and told tell it get you down. I feel helpless because the fighting spirit is not there anymore. Has anyone any suggestions to even get a flicker of the old man back even for a short time

Thanks

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Gary.G although I'm sorry your dad was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of last year.

It must be so tough to watch your dad go through this but I'm glad you've joined us as many of our members know how challenging being a carer can be so hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice. Our team of cancer nurses are also available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you have any questions or would like to talk things through with them.

In the meantime, I'm sure you just being there, talking to him, supporting him, and doing all you can to look after him, means more to your dad than anything else at this moment in time.

    Best wishes to you both,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
