Advice for shoulder and abdomen pain

Hi everyone

I am new to the forum following the devastating news last month that my dad has been diagnosed with colon cancer which has spread to the liver. He has been told that it is stage 4 and that without treatment the prognosis is poor. Like many of your stories, the news came as a complete shock as my dad is a very healthy and active 70 year old and other than some "niggles" in his abdomen, there were no signs.

In the past couple of weeks my dad has been experiencing right pain in his upper arm and shoulder which he describes as constant and like a nagging pain. He is also getting some pain in the upper right abdomen which is more painful when breathing in. He has tried paracetamol and codeine but neither are very effective. He has a heat pad which provides some relief. He starts chemotherapy soon so hopefully that will relieve these symptoms.

I am interested to hear others experiences and anything that has helped relieve symptoms.

Many thanks

Eimia
