Mum has colon cancer, am I now more at risk of having it?

My mum has got colon cancer hasn't spread and can operate Such a relief been a crazy few months but my question to anyone who could answer is should I worry about colon cancer myself and should I get tested I've just had a baby and now my minds in overdrive sounds silly but what risk am I at now

    I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis but it's really good to know that she has a treatment plan in place. I hope that things go well for her. 

    It's understandable that you may be feeling anxious about your own health and if this now increases your risk of developing cancer. You may find it helpful to have a look at the information on our website about the risks and causes of bowel cancer. If you're worried then do chat with your GP who will be best placed to support you.
