Hi just enquiring about wait time for bladder biopsies as I've been told 6 to 8 weeks due to a back log at the laboratory is this the normal waiting times or would it be sooner has anybody else had issues ? Regards jay
I can understand how frustrating that this must be waiting to find out the results of your biopsies and to hear that it is taking such a long time.
Unfortunately there are regional variations up and down the country due to shortage of pathologists and still recovering from the pandemic.
You could get in touch with PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) at your local hospital to see if you can find out more. Have a look here
There are national guidelines about how long someone should wait from when they first to present to a doctor with symptoms and when they are diagnosed and when treatment is started but as I am not involved in your care so I am not sure how this relates to you. Have a look at the information here
If this is causing you some concern then do chat this through with your GP or your hospital where you had the biopsy
