Colonoscopy

Hello I am so worried. I had a colonoscopy on Friday and it states on the report no evidence of cancer but they have taken 2 biopsies from site d "an area extending from the distal sigmoid to the mid descending" Why would they do that and what would they be checking for. I am sick with worry I can't eat or sleep. Any advice would be appreciated.

many thanks

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about you needing to have a colonoscopy and appreciate it can be a worry waiting for results.

For now try and focus on the positives that the report has said no signs of cancer as this is good news. It isn't uncommon for biopsies (tissue sample) to be taken during this procedure so they can be sent to cytology where they can look at the tissue and the cells within under a microscope just to make sure everything is normal.

I hope this is helpful but as I say try to not to over think things for now instead keep yourself busy and your mind on other things if you can until you know more.

Do get back if you need to or if you prefer to talk over the phone our number is 0808 800 4040 Monday-Friday 9-5.

    Best wishes
