Cervical cancer

Hi everyone, I'm after some advice please and to see if anyone else has been in my predicament. My GP has referred me as a USC urgent suspected cancer patient to Hospital (gynecologist) as I've got symptoms of cancer downstairs and for me to be transferred to colposcopy (apparently request has to go through Gynae first). This is in Wales, I've had letter back from Gynecology saying that I'm on the routine list and when I've phoned they said it will be 4 months minimum next year 2022. I phoned docs back up and she said to phone them back and say I've been referred as USC so I did no difference the hospital said that the consultant has seen the doctors referral had down graded me to normal waiting list. So my doctor has now this afternoon sent another letter by email saying if the hospital has downgraded me they need to write to me to tell me why they have done that beings the doctor has referred me as a USC. So I'm hoping that the consultant will act on second letter by the time I phone next week and put me off routine waiting list but I'm so worried if he doesn't any advice ? Thanks in advancex

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and to find out your referral has been down graded must of course be worrying for you.

Unfortunately sometimes this can happen but it is reassuring to hear the GP has written to the hospital and hopefully this decision will be reversed so you can be seen soon.

Hold your nerve for now and see what happens next. All we can suggest if they don't see you urgently is to keep talking to your GP about your symptoms and any changes and see if they can refer you to a different hospital.

I hope you know more soon and get some answers quickly.

    Best wishes

    Naomi

  • Hi Naomi

Many thanks for taking the time to read and respond to my post. I like the 'hold my nerve' which I will try and do and hopefully this week when I phone the gynae secretary it may be reversed, thanks also suggestion changing hospital maybe worth exploring.

Thanks again and best wishes Nieve
