Pelvic lymph nodes removal

Hi

I was diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer in February 2020, I had my pelvic lymph nodes removed (all came back clear). I have suffered with horrendous anxiety since, but the thing is I didnt have the anxiety when I was diagnosed, just a few months after the lymph nodes were removed. I was wondering if anybody has suffered with the same? If maybe not having them there can cause a hormone imbalance?

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It was very good news that all was clear in the nodes and that it's coming up to nearly 2 years post diagnosis and treatment. It's not unusual to sometimes feel more anxious after treatment has finished and it can take a while to process everything that you've been through. Many people do say this and that it can be nerve wracking waiting for time to go by and hoping that all is ok. Having lymph nodes removed should not affect your hormones.

If you find that the anxiety is beginning to stop you from leading a relatively 'new normal' life, it can be helpful to look for support regarding how to deal with this anxiety. Do make an appointment with the GP to see what may be available locally or see if getting in touch with a counsellor may help - many people do this and find it helpful in learning how to deal with everything you've been through.

Maggies centres are also good places for support - more on them here   and about their 6 week 'where now' courses.

Please do ring if you would like to go over anything or just have a chat on Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday

    All the best
