Lletz

Hello, I had my Lletz treatment two weeks ago and I developed vulvar pain a few days ago. This feels like burning when I sit down and a little bit like a UTI I am on antibiotics for infection but I don't think this is it. Has anyone experienced this after Lletz ? I am in pain most of the time and it doesn't seem to ease off, only when I lay down still.  I have self diagnosed myself with vulvodynia from looking online and I think that fits it. I also haven't had my results back from my procedure yet so this hasn't helped the over thinking.  Thanks x

  • Hello Bailey and thanks for posting,

As far as I know, vulval pain isn't a common problem after having a LLETZ procedure.  Pain after LLETZ treatment is usually described as cramping like a period pain. Another charity, Jo's trust, explain the sorts of problems that can sometimes occur after a LLETZ but there is no mention of vulval pain. You can see what Jo's Trust say by clicking on the link below,

It is curious to develop a new pain shortly after having a medical procedure and tempting to think that there is a link. I'm afraid I don't know if there is or isn't, but it might be worth calling the colposcopy clinic to ask if this is something they have come across before and get their advice about this.

If this pain persists I think you need to get it properly assessed by your doctor so you can be given some advice about how best to manage it, I expect it must be quite wearing.

I hope things improve for you soon.

Please do give us a ring if you want to talk this over. We are around weekdays from 9-5 and our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040.
