  • Hello there Ray

I am sorry to hear about the side effects you are experiencing and appreciate they must affecting your everyday life and getting you down.

Hopefully some other men who have also been diagnosed with breast cancer will jump on here and share their stories but in the meantime I will share some things that may be helpful to you.

Unfortunately it isn't unusual for men alongside women to experience hot flushes if they have needed to take hormonal treatment that in turn reduces the levels of testosterone in the body. These can be very unpleasant and you can read more about this here and things that may help.

I'm sure you already have tried many of the suggestions to wear layers of lighter clothing, using cooling face sprays, fans and sleeping with a window open. Cutting down on caffeine and alcohol can also help but I appreciate hot flushes can be difficult to manage.

Do talk through these ongoing hot flushes with your doctor as there are medications that can be tried to ease things and they also may be able to suggest some other things to settle things for you.

I hope this is of some use to you but please get back if you need to. The nurse helpline is open 9-5 Mon-Fri so do give us a call if you so wish.

    All the best

    Naomi
