Lump on my throat

Hi

I have got a sudden lump on my throat. It was a small lump and I have been going back and forth to hospital. I had many scans but the doctors are unable to diagonise it. Recently I had my biopsy done and waiting for the results. During the biopsy something has aggrevated the lump and now the lump has gone so big. It feels like a tennis ball and it's very had lump. This is making me very worried and affecting me mentally. Literally I can grab the lump with my hand now, whereas before it was hardly visible.

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation and all that you have been through. If you feel that the lump has got bigger since your biopsy and no one has seen it I would get in touch with the hospital where you had the biopsy done or I would contact NHS111 here

We are unable to diagnose a lump but if you think that it has increased in size then do get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

It may well be as a result of the biopsy that it has irritated the area but on the other hand you may have an infection that may need a course of antibiotics.

I hope that you mange to speak to some one soon.

    All the Best,

    Catherine

  • Hi.

Thank you for the information. I called 111 last week and manage to get an appointment with the ENT department. However I was seeing by a junior doctor. All he said they can't do anything untill the results come from the biopsy. And the sudden massive increase in size could be due to swollen up. He said its normal to swollen up after a a biopsy. It's been 2 weeks and it stil hasn't gone down. Therefore I don't think it's just swollen up. Probably a infection.
