Vaccines & lymph node

I had a routine (screening) mammogram less than three hours after my Covid booster yesterday.  A noticeably swollen lymph node was found in my arm pit on the same arm.  (I am super frustrated with myself now of course!)  But am I right to be surprised the node was that visible so soon?

  • Hi and thanks for the post

It's not unusual to get swollen lymph nodes after an injection - people will respond very differently with their reactions though, so it's difficult to say .

If there was any doubt or cause for concern though, I imagine the radiographer would have taken it up further.

Keep an eye on it, though it can take a while for nodes to go down and have a chat with the GP about it if you continue to be worried about it.

    All the best

    Wanda

  • Thank you for your reply.  The radiographer took the detail of the time I had the vaccination and added it to the notes.  I think she was a bit surprised that the vaccinaton was less than 3 hours before.   She did suggest I would likely get a follow up from the service, so will wait now to see what happens.
