Hello Machrie and thank you for your post.
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis of breast cancer and I can appreciate your concern especially as this is all new to you. So I hope the following information will be of some help.
The grade of the cancer refers to what the cancer cells look like under a microscope. The stage (you don't mention this so you might not know what this is yet) relates to how big the cancer is and if it has spread. We have information on our website about the grade and stage of breast cancer, you can see it here
Once more information is know about your cancer a treatment plan will be discussed with you. You can read more about how breast cancer is treated in the UK here
You may have already met your breast cancer nurse, this nurse is your link to the hospital team and will provide you with information about your situation as well as offering support. I do think that you will also be quite busy gong to and from hospital seeing your breast cancer team, having more tests and treatments. So I hope you have the support of family and friends.
Do ask your breast care nurse about what support is available. Also posting on Cancer Chat here and in other areas (you can see these areas to the left of this page) will hopefully bring kindness and support from the community.
You are welcome to get back to us and you may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Take care,
Caroline
