Pinball sized lump in breast

Hi everyone,

I just need a little reassurance. Some background first, I went to the doctors about 2 months ago because I suffer from ecezma and ecezma on my breasts and nipples - the doctors examined my breast then and said all felt ok and no signs of cancer and the ecezma on my breasts was nothing to be concerned about. I am constantly itching my breast and nipples because of  my ecezma (ecezma is everywhere not just boobs)

Anyway last week I have come across a tiny tiny tiny little lump on my right breast just above the nipple to the left, it's perfectly round and feels smaller than a pea, I can almost like move it. I'm so so so worried about it, I'm thinking would the doctor have felt this 2 months ago and just looked past it cos it's fine? Or is this new? Is it a injury cos im itching my boobs so much? Have I caused cancer cos I itch so much?

i have a follow up dermatologist appointment on Monday so I am going to ask to her feel it then, I know she's a dermatologist not a doctor but hopefully she will be knowledgeable enough to know?

im so worried! I'm due to get married next year and my fiancé's mum died of breast cancer and I just couldn't cope :(

thanks in advance everyone xxx

  • Hi and thanks for the post

It's normal to feel anxious about anything new that you've noticed on your breast, but in the majority of cases it's not anything of concern.

No one can say what this may be, as you would need to be examined and /or have further tests to be able to say what this may be. So do make an appointment with the doctor and get it checked out. You can't cause cancer by scratching an area and it's possible it may have come up as a reaction to the eczema but I can't really say.

A dermatologist is a qualified doctor and should be able to check the lump and if necessary can always refer you if necessary to a breast clinic.

Try and not jump to worst case scenarios as they don't happen as often as you may think, especially in the younger age groups.

Hold your nerve till Monday and good luck

    All the best

  • Hi hun,

Not sure your age but I'm 38, the good thing is it's small and you found it,, I saw that you have your appointment today which is good at least your mind will be put at rest.

My Gp told me that boobs are really complex so it could be nothing to worry about I hope that it is.

Take someone with you if you can, I went alone and wished I hadn't as I didn't get the best news. Here if you need me if but I am sure it will be fine, just remember though if it's not the news you hoped for something can be done about it.  It's worse for you because you saw someone pass away from it so of course you will feel like this, you will be fine today though,.
