Lump under right bum cheek

Hi,

I do know the answer to this question, 'go see your GP' but I'm actually embarrassed! Not because of where the lump is but the fact I have one, I feel like they will laugh me out of the surgery. Its a relatively hard and ball like but not completely round/circular, kinda like a rugby ball, it is not raised above my skin and no skin signs it's there, the only reason I noticed it is because I've been gently massaging that area as I have siatica pain. It dosent hurt but if I press on it, it's causes my sciatica pain to increase. I have also been suffering from other symptoms such as pelvic pain, changes in bowel movements and extremely smelly gas and a lot of it, my periods have suddenly stopped and I am having severe mood changes and anger outburst and some other female Gynie symptoms. I thought I might be going through early menopause as I am 42, but I am unsure now whether some of my symptoms may be caused by this lump! I feel so stupid ringing the doctors because I don't feel unwell with it and it dosent hurt but I am a little worried, has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any guidance would be greatly received

  • Hi and thank for posting

No one will laugh at you coming in to the surgery to get a lump checked out, as that is the advice that is always given. Irrespective of your other symptoms, anything that is unusual or different for you and especially with something like a lump ,would need to be examined. Though 9 times out of 10, the lumps do not turn out to be a problem, they still need to be seen.

So make the appointment and you can then also discuss your other symptoms with the GP - it is important you get the chance to go over these concerns with them - you don't have to feel unwell to go in to be seen.

    All the best

    Wanda

  • Hi Vixen79,

Don't worry about what others think, please get it checked out. I do have a similar issue to you and I am awaiting results - I have a hard lump on my left buttock, have had 2 MRI's and an ultrasound on the lesion I have. I have had issues with lower back pain and can't travel more than a couple of hours without intense pain. This is sitting on my sciatic nerve, and it can cause all types of symptoms. Let me know ow you get on, us people with buttock issues are rare! :-)

  • Hi Wanda,

Thank you for your reply and I know I should go and see the gp, I just don't have a great gp that takes the time to listen, I went recently because of the Gynie symptoms and had a blood test which showed my FSH levels were fine even though it said they were raised in a urine sample. He totally dismissed my symptoms and said I would have to wait for my Gynie assessment at the end of November and just put up with the pain, so now I don't want to go back saying I have a lump now and it turns out to be nothing and he continues with the same view I think he already feels that I'm a hypochondriac silly woman, I will go though and maybe ask to see a female gp so I'm less anxious when I go. Thank you again for you advice.

  • Hi Songbird,

Thank you for your reply and words of encouragement. I'm sorry to hear you are suffering so badly, and I hope you find you answers and hopefully treatment also. Yeah I have to sit on my left side for some reason the lump dosent hurt but if I sit on my right cheek it exacerbates the sciatica, pelvic and hip pain, it's all very strange! But as Wanda says I do need to go and get it checked I suppose I'd rather go and feels silly when it's nothing than it be something serious and not have told anyone. I will keep you updated and thank you again.

  • It's best to get something like that checked. I really think they will take you seriously, as you have something you can feel and it causes symptoms. Good luck!
