Breast lump

Past few weeks felt a lump on my breast I am breastfeeding and have breast implants but the lump is not hard or hurting. Trying to get an appointment with my doctor and haven't been successful I will try again tomorrow. I can only feel the lump when I stroke down ny boob towards my nipple I am so worried mostly because I don't want to leave my kids behind. even though no one in my family has had breast cancer Anyone else had similar thing.

  • Morning, I don't have same experience, hopefully someone else who does will respond. I just wanted to say keep trying to get that appointment with your GP. It's probably nothing, most lumps are nothing (9 out of 10, I hear), but definitely get it checked out for your own peace of mind. Mickey

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are concerned about the lump in your breast.

We can't diagnose you but you may find that the lump you are feeling might be a blocked milk duct or a benign (not cancer) lump but of course I can't be sure.

Have a look at the information written by Breast Cancer Now about changes after pregnancy here

It is good that you are trying to make an appointment with your GP. Hopefully they will be able to perform a breast examination and put your mind at rest. They may decide to refer you to the breast clinic not because they think it is cancer but they sometimes refer you because they need more information about the lump.

Most young women before the menopause don't have breast cancer.

Even though it is helpful hearing other members of the forum do remember that everyone is so different so it is difficult to compare one situation with another.

I do hope that this helps.

If you feel that it would be helpful to chat this through with one of the nurses on the helpline then you are more then welcome to give us a ring. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    All the Best,

    Catherine

  • I'm sure it's nothing but worth getting it checked- keep pushing with your doctor for an appointment for peace of mind x
