Cysts can appear in any part of the body and cancer of the vulva is an uncommon cancer that mostly affects women in their 80's.

I think the best thing to do if you are concerned about the diagnosis you have been given is to make another appointment and ask if you can be seen. I would certainly go back if this begins to feel painful or it starts to produce a discharge as this could be a sign of infection.
