I am desperate to have the lymph node biopsy performed. A little scared of the result. Really satisfied and pleased with NHS but would there be any benefit in going private. Just wondering

I was told if I had part of the tests done by private it would be expected that I carry on with private. I'm in Scotland I don't no about your specific hospital but this is what I was told after I booked a private scan. But I new I couldn't afford the full treatment so I didn't bother. I hope your results are positive
Hello and thanks for posting,
It isn't that easy to go private just to have the one procedure done. The private doctor may want to do other things possibly, and you would have to pay for the initial consultation first as well probably. Also, sometimes, it is hard to obtain a copy of images or results to share onto your NHS medical records.
So, I would think well before looking into this. It can incur delays if you want to pass your care back across to the NHS. So, maybe talk this over with your GP before doing anything further.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
We are currently evaluating our service and it would be really helpful to us if you could complete the survey here
Yours sincerely,
Vanda
Hi Jonny, I had my lymph node biopsy done several months ago, it was near my collar bone and quite quick and painless! Turn around for my appointments were quite quick too. I'm in west yorkshire
I can't be sure but to me I wouldn't have seen any benefit in going private for the biopsy
