Whenever someone contacts us with something that is worrying them we always suggest they make an appointment to see their GP and get checked out to be on the safe side. And I see that you and your daughter have done that. I don’t think your daughter needs to be overly concerned as breast cancer would be very rare in someone of her age. The symptoms she has are much more likely to be caused by ordinary everyday problems that teenagers may get from time to time. This can often be related to hormonal changes.

Breast lumps are very common in young girls. As your daughter’s breasts are still developing, changes may develop and these are nearly always due to normal changes in the breast tissue. But, I appreciate it can still be worrying when she finds differences in how her breasts look or feel.

To put her mind at rest, it would be a good idea for your daughter to do what the GP has suggested .Wait until her period has passed  as many lumps reduce or go away after this time. If there is no change then an ultrasound scan will be arranged. Hopefully this will put both your minds at ease.
