MDT

I have had a scan for a nodule on lung . I ask for results to be told they have to have a MDT meeting before they tell me should I be worried

  • Hi and thanks for the post

It can be stressful waiting for results and it's not an easy time. It's not unusual for results to go to a MDT meeting where a number of different health professionals meet to discuss what the next step if any, needs to be. It's not just cancer cases that are discussed, but also ones where a decision needs to be made regarding a follow up or whether more tests need to be carried out.

It's easy to jump to conclusions, but hold your nerve if you can, and try and not look too much into this - it really is going to be a case of just waiting to see what is said, as no one can second guess what the outcome may be.

Once you get some more information, if there is anything you would like to go over, do give us a ring - the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

I hope you don't have too long a wait.

    All the best

    Wanda

  • Does an MDT meeting always mean some kind of follow up is required though? As in it can't be that you will just be told all was well and off you go so to speak?

  • Hi again

No it doesn't always mean this - it may be that a decision is made that any further action isn't needed. I know you just want to know , but I really don't think you can second guess the outcome or read too much into this . It can go either way and that's hard while you're waiting. Hopefully you will hear this week and as  I said previously,  just give us a ring if you need to - whatever you may hear.

Hang on for a bit longer, and all the very best

    Wanda
