Lump in left armpit- 6 months, told vaccine, Im also preg

Hi all,

bit of cry for help, I'm currently a very anxious 27 weeks pregnant lady.

story- I found out I was pregnant beginning of June (so happy) about a week later I found a lump in my left armpit, very high up! I waited a few weeks see if it went but it didn't. Cut to the chase went to GP got referred to breast clinc,  had the usual check and ultrasound preformed on armpit. (Very quick) got told nothing to worry about and headed back to the consultants room, told basically it was just a node nothing unusual looking and could be because of the vaccine. However I had the vaccine back in March 25th so this means 4 months on still ther and to now 8 months on.
was told could be there while, but that just doesn't sit right with me and makes me so anxious I'm constantly checking it, still there today all though I just admit harder to find and not as promenante, I also feel more tenderness there now which I guess steams my anxiety.
mother symptoms are that sometimes my armpit feel like it's stinging.

ahh as you probably can tell I'm so anxious, I'm not coping the best and I just don't know what to do! I'm just so worried that something has been missed or it's developed or something.

please help

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

Finding a lump can cause an awful lot of anxiety.

It is good to hear that you have now had it checked. Ultrasounds are a very good way to assess a lump. Doctors are used to looking at lumps on a day  to day out basis, and know what to look at, and also know when any feature of the lump looks worrying.

During pregnancy breasts can become much more tender due to the change in hormone levels.

Lumps or swollen lymph glands can be very common and are sometimes a sign that the body is fighting an infection. The NHS has written some information on swollen lymph glands which you can read about here

The other thing to say that breast cancer is not normally painful and breast cancer is not common at your young age.

You may find it helpful to read the information produced by Breast Cancer Now about what happens to your breasts during pregnancy which you can see here

I do hope that this has helped reassure you. I can't say whether the vaccine may have been responsible for the lump under your arm but we do know that vaccines have produced different immune responses.

If you remain concerned then do by all means go back and discuss your worries with your GP.

    All the very best,

    Catherine
