who didn't have sedation with this and can u habe mild sedation and still be awake
Hello and thanks for your post
Hopefully some of our forum members will come along and share their experiences with you.
You are usually given some mild sedation to relax you before you have a colonoscopy, and you might feel slightly sleepy but you will be awake during the procedure.
The NHS website has some information on having a colonoscopy at this link.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Celene
My first colonoscopy about 7/8 years ago was with sedatives my second at Christmas was a ct scan no sedation needed. ,just felt as if l had peed myself when the drugs went in I V , fortunately just a feeling. Much easier than the sedation ect . My dr said that they are doing them this way more often now. Still needed the bowel prep.

is a ct one better less pain full how often u got to have one of last one was normal
Hello there
We have more information about a CT colonography test here that explains what it is. However it isn't always the test of choice for everyone as whilst it can show things up in the bowel it isn't possible to take biopsies (tissue samples) if needed.
Where they have to put air into the bowel so that the scan gives clear images may also lead to some pain and discomfort.
Do continue to discuss any worries or concerns you have with the doctors or nurses involved in your care.
All the best
Naomi
for the colonoscopy i had one 3 years ago without sedation but having one soon but might have sedation what is light sedation like
Hello and thanks for your further post,
Light sedation drugs are given via a needle into a vein in the arm. They are short acting and aim to make people have less memory of the procedure.
There is more information here,
Please do direct any specific questions to your hospital team/department.
Best wishes,

hi, i have had 2 colonoscopies, can i say get the best sedation possible. my first didn't bother me, with entonox only, however the last was total agony. so much so i passed out with using the entonox to get on top of the pain i felt as air was being pumped into my colon / large bowel.. good luck.
