Cervical ectropian

I apologise for the long post. I had my first cervical ecroptian 4 years ago, I started getting a heavy feeling at the bottom of my stomach with bloating and bleeding. Since then I have had it every year with having silver nitrate to treat the area. At the beginning of October of this year I had another ectropian which was treated with silver nitrate and was sent home. I was in awful pain and started bleeding very heavy so returned to hospital 4 days later which they repeated the process. Again I came home and was in bad pain with severe bleeding so returned to be cauterized for the third time within a week with silver nitrate. The gyneacologysts couldn't understand why it took 3 attempts to stop my bleeding. I've had blood tests, scans, urine samples and swabs which all came back okay. Ive been told to stop all contraception and been advised to be sterilised. 3 weeks later my symptoms are back and I'm in awful pain. I'm being sent back for more swabs doing in a few days but the doctor refused to even check out my cervix. I've been told I'll be having the electro therapy next time i have an ectropian but I'm so tired of being in pain and bleeding all of the time. I've also had HPV for the last 3 year's so all of the visits to the hospital are really getting to me. I feel like something's been missed is there anything else I can do i feel like I'm hitting a brick wall with doctors. Thank you for reading

  • Hello there

I am sorry to hear about the ongoing ectropians and symptoms you are having and appreciate it must be a worry for you.

I'm afraid there isn't anyone on the forum who can tell you what to do apart from letting your doctor know about any on going or changing symptoms, which you are.

Symptoms as I am sure you know can be caused by many different things and it sounds like your doctors have arranged a series of different tests that have all come back okay which is reassuring.

It seems reasonable to check for infection by carrying out some swabs so wait and see what these may show. If you still don't get any answers from the swabs and the symptoms are continuing keep talking to the doctors to see if there is anything else they can suggest to help or that can be looked into.

I hope you find out more soon and things settle down for you.

    Take care

    Naomi
