Subungual Cell Carcinoma/Nail melanoma

Hi,

Waiting for a nail matrix biopsy..

Dermatologist didn't think there was pigment present but something is growing. I'm waiting weeks for this biopsy. She said it wasn't pleasent and I'm wondering if anyone else has had one. COVID is delaying my appointment and my thumb is getting sore. It's been present 6 years and has changed in that time.

  • Hi, I'm not a nurse. But have had some issues regarding appointments.
Your GP I presume has referred you to your local hospital for the biopsy. You could try and call the appoitment line at the hospital to see if any appoitment has been made. If non is made you could ask them to be put through to speak to the consultant secretary. Ask rough time scale or even ask if you could have a cancellation appoitment. Lots of clinics are delayed, postponed or not telephone consultations due to Covid. If this waiting time is unacceptable then you could speak to the Hospital PALS team- patient advice liason team and they can chase appoitment on your behalf.

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It is horrid waiting for tests and appointments to come around and I can appreciate the frustration. Hopefully, someone will come back with their own experience of the procedure, but of course everyone will have different experiences. If there is no response, it may be worth posting on another thread in the forum.

Effie has given some good suggestions ,but unfortunately, with the pandemic still having an effect on catch up appointments in hospitals, there is a delay.

It might be worth going back to the GP saying that this is now getting painful and is there any way they can expedite the appointment.

I hope you get to hear soon

    All the best
