Hysteroscopy wait

Good morning all. I'm a 44 year old woman who is 5 years post menopausal. I have been on HRT for 2 years. 4 weeks ago I had a random bleed, not heavy, it was done within 2 days. However I took my self off to the GP just to be safe. The GP did an internal and took a swab and said everything looked and felt OK apart from a small amount of discharge which could be thrush. She said to come off my HRT for 6 weeks to see if it happened again end of appointment.  I pushed whilst I was there for an pelvic scan referral as my mum has had breast cancer to which she agreed. Long story short swab came back clear but scan shows my uterine lining is too thick and doc has referred me for a hysteroscopy and biopsy to check for cancer. I'm sat waiting for an appointment to come, it's only been 2 weeks since she referred me but it feels like a lifetime. I have rung the docs and have been told I haven't been referred on the 2 week fast track as I don't fit the criteria and I just have to wait. Is this right or should I be stamping my feet somewhere. I'm worried that something is festering away inside and it's getting quite the longer I leave it. What is everyone else's experience of this?

  • Hello Tullip77 and thanks for posting,

I'm afraid we don't know exactly what the local criteria are in the NHS in this sort of situation so I can't confirm whether what you have been told is correct. I think the best thing to do would be to let your GP know and ask them and talk things over as well. I don't think it is a question of foot stamping, just getting the right information about your situation and being properly informed which is reasonable.

I hope your GP can help.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
