Mouth sore

My son has had a lump in his mouth for about 6 months maybe more as he's 10 I don't tend to check in his mouth, it's painless and has previously been white where he's bitten it! It's now the the same colour as his gum and is in the right hand side of his inner lip, pea sized I've been in contact with the GP but was wondering (if anything to put my mind at ease) does anyone know what this could be?
thanks in advance

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am afraid that no one here can tell you if this lump in your son's mouth is anything to be worried about.

I am not sure if your GP has seen this lump or if you are waiting for the appointment. The view of the doctor is more important than what anyone can say here.  Your son's dentist can also look at his mouth during his next check up and tell you if this if anything to be worried about.

I am sure that you know that cancer is uncommon in children particularly cancer that affects the mouth.

I hope your son will be okay.

    Take care

    Caroline
