When should I see a GP

Evening all - I hope you're well, first time poster here and I hope you could help me.

This evening I have discovered a lump about 2 inches diagonally behind my ear. This lump feels as though it is planted on my neck muscle. It is a fairly solid and relatively small lump.

My question is; should I go get it checked out ASAP or should I give it a couple weeks to make sure it doesn't just disappear on me? Would hate to waste the doctors time - but am quite nervous due to lots of family history with cancer.

  • I think if you are worried, it's probably best to get it checked out as soon as possible. If you give it a couple of weeks, you will only be worrying for those weeks. You won't be wasting the doctor's time. Even if there is nothing wrong, better to get the reassurance and if there is a problem, the sooner it's seen, the better.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Unfortunately, this forum isn't really meant for people with symptoms.

We would always suggest that people who are concerned, ask their own GP who can assess, and then advise.

Most symptoms/health worries are easily explained, as are most lumps and bumps that GP's get asked about. But it is sensible to get checked out, for peace of mind.

    I hope that this helps,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
