Heavy postmenopausal bleeding

I started bleeding on Tuesday I've not had a bleed for 6 year's. My doctor has referred me for urgent appointment which I've got on 05/11/2021. I can't have medication to slow the bleeding as I'm in my second year of being diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm concerned as the bleeding is very heavy and not easing I know it's only 5 days but it's lot's more than I used to have when I did have periods. Very worried

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Vaginal bleeding can have a range of different causes and most won't be linked to cancer but the important thing is that this is being looked into.

You can read more about post menopausal bleeding here. As well as a thickened uterine lining being a possible cause other things like polyps in the cervix or thinning or inflammation in the vagina can also cause bleeding.

Wait and see what they say at the hospital and remember if necessary they will carry out some tests to get some answers as to what may be going on.

Waiting when you are worried is very stressful. I hope you know more soon and that everything turns out to be okay.

    Take care,

    Celene
