Lumps on collarbone

Hi, I've had lumps along both collarbones for over a year now, maybe even two and I'm not sure what they could be. There's 5+ on each side. They move really easily and most are pea sized although some are a little bigger, everywhere I've read says that lymph nodes are behind the bone at the bottom of the neck whereas what I can feel is on the actual bone along the top and in front too so I don't think it could be that? I've also got lumps in front of my hip bone and pelvis bone that are the same but bigger, I've now found a lump in the side of my neck too that feels the same as ones on collarbone.

I'm 17 and I don't know if I'm overreacting to all of this, or whether I really should worry. I don't like going to the doctors and I don't really know what else to do but the constant issues with my body are just getting exhausting and overwhelming now I'm not sure what to do. Sorry if this isn't the right place for this.

  • Hello Mxanais and thanks for posting,

A lot of people post here with things like this that are troubling them, and I can understand you wondering if we could help, but I don't know what is causing these lumps and unfortunately we can't make a diagnosis (say what is the matter). So my advice is to see your doctor and get properly checked out. This is the only way to find out what is going on and if anything needs to be done which it might not.

I am not sure why you don't like going to the doctors. Some people worry so much about what might be the matter that they avoid seeing a doctor for fear of what they may find out. But avoidance doesn't make the worry any less and sometimes the doctor can give peace of mind, so it is worth getting this sorted out.

It isn't always easy to get a GP appointment, but do persist in contacting the surgery/practice until you do. It might be a good idea to get some help and support from your parents/guardian or another trusted adult.

Hopefully you will easily be able to see a doctor and get some answers.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Julia
