changes to the aerola

Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice, It is probably normal but I have noticed a few months ago that on one breast my aerola looked different, Not the usually difference like colour or texture or size, but it looks a different shape. Like its squaring off? and no longer round?its only happened on the one. I have mentioned it to my husband who said it looks fine but I just cant shift this feeling of it being abnormal. I have spent loads of time on google and I cant find anything about shape changes?its all to do with the size or texture or lumps? I dont really know what im looking for maybe just want to know really if its anything I should speak to someone about or just leave and  see if it changes any more?

  • I would definately get it checked , I'm sure its probably nothing to worry about but better to have it confirmed.

I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and did feel some thickness but not a lump it was then picked up on a mamogram.Luckily mine is treattable but I could have got it checked earlier.(not saying this is likely to be ) but I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be checking and a professional will show you.

You will feel better once you have got it checked x

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Breast cancer in women of a young age for example, is rare, so for this reason alone another explanation for this is much more likely. The way our breast tissue feels and looks, can be influenced by our hormones which change over the month of our menstrual cycles. So see if there is a pattern to it. Weight gain/loss can affect breast appearance too.

Googling doesn't tend to help overall, so for peace of mind, do ask your GP about it, and they can advise you further.

    Wishing you the best,

    Vanda
