Biopsy results

Hi everyone I'm looking for advise about waiting times for biopsy results.
I had a colonoscopy on the 9th October they took 10 biopsy's the doctor who did the colonoscopy said there was inflammation in my colon but didn't mention anything else that I can remember as I had sedation. I have had pain for about 2 years and only just got the colonoscopy.
I had a fit test done about 2 weeks before the fit score was >400. The doctors think it's cancer I'm so scared I'm only 27 my family keep asking if I have the results back.
I don't know if this wait is good news or bad I have looked online I know that google isn't helpful but I'm scared and want to know what's going on and any advise would be appreciated.
thank you for taking the time to read this post.

  • Hello Ben

I’m sorry you are currently waiting for your biopsy results and appreciate this must be a very worrying time for you. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for biopsy results to come through, but I appreciate waiting any length of time when you are worried is stressful.

Easier said than done but try not to over think the situation for now and try not to anticipate what might be the matter. Not even your doctor can be sure at the moment. I'm afraid until the results are back no one can tell you anymore for now. Hopefully nothing too serious is wrong.

Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene

  • Hi

no results as of yet my doctor keeps saying there back and when I speak to the doctor they tell me there not back yet so I'm still in limbo at the minute

  • Sorry to hear this Ben it is so frustrating! I have abnormal qfit result and high inflammation in stool sample so awaiting colonoscopy

  • Yeh it really is frustrating my doctors are useless at the minute they told me to look on google for support and that they didn't know anything about support for precancer diagnosis.
and my qfit was over 400 and then I went for my colonoscopy and was told there was inflammation in my colon. I told them I had bloods two days before and it came back as I'm anemic they asked me if my doctor said anything else I said no they then told me that my inflammatory markers were high. And after they told me that my results will be ready in 7-10 days but three weeks later still nothing the doctors won't chase them up they said it's my responsibility to do that and again told me that it's not cancer as im too young and I challenged them and asked why I had a colonoscopy on the 2 week cancer pathway then they then told me that it can't be ruled out confused isn't the word. And they point blank refused to give me painkillers just told me to take paracetamol I said if I wanted some smarties I would go to the shop and get some haha

but I had to argue and threaten to go to CQC and public health England as there willingly leaving a patient in pain they then gave me tramadol.
Im so stressed about it coz im just been pushed around by my doctors plus it's my birthday today so made this day even worse than it already is.
but I hope you get sorted and it's good news for you

    thanks ben

  • I don't know what my qfit was just told it was elevated and positive. It's just a right nightmare all of this! If you don't mind me asking how old are you? I'm 30 with a 5 year old and I'm absolutely terrified!

hope you managed to have a nice birthday!

  • I was told on the colonoscopy report that I got on the day but yeh it's a right nightmare.
im 28 and it's been a ok day not been well all day but plodding along haha.
And as the doctor who did my colonoscopy said it can be anything like chrones or colitis but it don't stop the worry and stress.
hopefully they will give you a answer when you have your colonoscopy.
the colonoscopy is ok I had sedation I only felt pain when they first started pumping the air in and they topped up the pain relief and the next thing I know I was been wheeled out in to recovery.

  • I've had one before acrually when I was 24 and it only showed inflammation of my stomach but symptoms are different and worse now!

  • As far as I know the cancer pathway doesn't necessarily mean they think cancer is likely, just that it's one possibility and they want to get it checked to be sure it isn't. I've heard that 90% of those referred under the cancer pathway do not have cancer. Hope that will be the case for you.

  • Thank you so much, I hope so too!
