I have been recalled after my mammogram. I am so worried and only my husband and daughter knows this as I can't face telling other people. I have an appointment in a few days . I feel so emotional when I think of it
You anxiety is understandable, as I think that most people would feel unsettled by this. While I cannot tell you that nothing serious is wrong, most women who get a recall to the breast screening unit turn out not to have cancer. Also, women who have had their first breast screening are more likely to be recalled than those who are having subsequent mammograms. This is because, if there are any question marks there are no previous breast x-rays that the specialist can use to compare 'the problem area' with to look for changes.
