Smear results

Hello, has anyone ever waited 9 weeks to get smear results back? I have rang my doctors and they have no results and rang the ward where they where taken and they wont tell me anything .. they just said they'd book an appointment to discuss smear results.. I found out this week they did not bother to book one, so I am now waiting for 'call back'. I have tried ringing multiple times and they just say we'll get someone to call you back to arrange next appointment. I have a fibroid polyp that they was meant to book an operation to removed and also for a little camera to see what else is happening and I have heard nothing about this either.

does anyone know an alternative way of getting smear results? Thanks

    Smear tests are more often taken at the GP surgery as part of the cervical screening programme and sent to your home address. I'm afraid I am not sure how they get reported when they are taken in a hospital out patient clinic, but I assume they must go back to the doctor who requested them and be added to your hospital records.

    The NHS says that cervical screening (smear) results usually come back with 2-6 weeks, but because of the pandemic, I think they might be taking longer.

    I am sorry you are having to chase up your appointments like this, but unfortunately, all I can suggest is that you persevere until you are given one. It must be frustrating at the least. You could try contacting the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the hospital - look at the NHS website to see what they do and how to find them. As well as these results I think you need to chase up a date for the operation that was mentioned.

    Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply.. I have tried to contact them many times to find this out but I just keep getting..... we'll get someone to call you back and make an appointment but they havnt so far. If I've not heard anything by mid next week I may go down to the reception so 1. I get through to someone and 2. Something is actually arranged thanks
