Confused

Hey, I have multiple pairs of nodes swollen throughout my body like in my neck my jaw below my chin in my armpits and groin. There all very small and they all move freely. I also have no symtoms of having cancer like night sweats etc... all of my nodes have been swollen for 2 years but nothing has changed since I first noticed them. I went to a doctor when I first noticed my lymph nodes swollen and they said it may be due to mono. But it's almost been over 2 years now and I don't think it's actually mono since its lasted this long. There's also not much signs of it being due to cancer too. I can't find any results as to what this possibly may be especially since nothing has changed. I would just love some possibilitys as to what this may be?

  • Hello BradleyG and thanks for your post

Lymph nodes can be raised for various reasons, such as a local skin infection, or a blocked or inflamed lymph gland (lymph node). Sometimes lymph nodes come up in response to a previous bacterial or viral infection such as in your case  mono/ glandular fever  It can take a long time for them to go down and sometimes they may never go back to their original size. It can also take a long time to completely recover from this virus.

We always encourage people to go back to their doctor if they remain worried or if their symptoms persist. Hopefully, they will reassure you that nothing serious is the matter,or if anything else needs to be done.

I hope this has been of some use.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
