Back pain

I have been having lower back pain for several months now. In the beginning was just when I was straightening my back after sitting but now is constant. The pain radiates but is normal on the lower right side. I notice bright red blood on my stools. It as happened before once I have piles but with the back pain and the blood should I be worried?

  • Hi sorry to hear of your back pain, i have no medical experiance, like you i have had liwer back pain for probably over a year, mainley when i sleep, but recentley i have it in the day, i had xray , which showed mild to moderate changes in my neck and lumbar area and side view i have a bulging disc, they werent concerned , and said physio could help me.

I would suggest that you make an appointment with your gp to get checked out  , im glad i did , and the blood may well be your piles, but look after yourself and get checked out , you should always check out bleeding in stools  or new symptoms or symptoms that wont go away .

I was sent for a routin mri on my back also due to my history, and it actually picked up another health issue, so make an appointment to give you peace of mind .

    All the best

  • Hi and thanks for your post

There may be a number of different explanations for your symptoms other than cancer, so try and not just think of a worse case scenario.

It's always best to go through all your symptoms with a GP who can examine you and if necessary, refer you for further tests. Your symptoms may not be connected at all , as many people will have problems with back pain.

Hopefully the GP will be able to give you some cream for your piles and you are already trying to make sure you don't get constipated, by drinking lots of fluids and being careful with your diet.

I hope you get to see or speak initially first with the GP soon

    All the best
