Mole on Vulva

Hi. I have had a mole on vulva lip as far as I can remember 2cm x 1cm. However noted in the last 6 months ( maybe longer ) that when washing myself I can now feel it. So it has changed shaped definitely. Feels like there is a little lump on it. Who would I go to see to have this checked out? Based in England.

  • Hi,

I'm not a nurse but I've been a melanoma patient for many years. The nurses won't be back until tomorrow so I thought I would answer your question while you are waiting.

Please make an appointment with your GP.. They will decide if you need to be seen by a consultant and will refer you. It would normally be dermatology (for a mole) but because of it's location it will probably be gynaecology. Vulva melanoma is not common so hopefully it will be something easily treated. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

  • Hello and thanks for asking,

I see that another forum member has already posted a reply to you.

Yes, do go and see your GP. If they assess it , and think that a referral is necessary, then it will probably be to the hospital gynaecology department.

A lot of the time, these things are not serious, but it is sensible to go and be checked out, for peace of mind.

    Best wishes,
