Hi, I had lumpectomy (April 21) and radiotherapy (June 21) and now taking daily dose of Leprozole for breast cancer. Over last few days my breast has been painful and hot to touch in the area I had treated. Any idea what is causing this?
The best person to talk this through with, especially as the breast would need to be examined, would be your breast care nurse or GP. Sometimes after radiotherapy the breast will have altered sensation and feel different , but no one here on the forum will be able to say what may be causing your symptoms. There could be some infection, especially if it is hot and painful, in which case you may need some antibiotics.
So do ring the breast care nurse for further advice- they may ask you to come in to get it checked or, as clinics throughout the country do differ, they may say to make an appointment with the GP.
Thanks for this, I took your advice and spoke to my breast care nurse. She suspects it is still side effect from radiotherapy and suggested I take ibuprofen for pain and she'll speak to me in a couple of weeks to see if things have settled down or decide whether further investigation needed.
