Breast lump

Hey everyone, cant believe ive found myself in this chat However, even though i know its the silliest thing to do i cant help googeling constantly!

I found a weird lump in my breast a few weeks ago. I check regularly (although now wonder if ive been doing it right) but one morning the way my arm was resting on my breast when i was on the laptop i felt it. I suffer major anxiety atm and instantly got myself into a panic. My husband called the Dr straight away for me and i was seen on the monday morning.

The Dr went straight to it, however advised she wasnt concerned as there were other areas that felt fairly similar but would refer me anyway to be 100%.

My appointment is a week today and im really struggling to deal with the terrible thoughts. I keep looking at my little boy and have to go through to my room to have a cry. Has anyone been through similar and have a good outcome?

Thanks xx

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you have a breast lump that is troubling you.

It is good to hear you have been seen by your GP and she isn't overly worried but has referred you to the breast clinic to get it checked out further.

Try and steer away from Google if you can as it cannot tell you what is going on and is likely to just make you worry even more.

Breast lumps are common and some women have naturally lumpier breasts but in most cases lumps are caused by harmless cysts or a build up of fatty tissue called fibroadenomas that you can read more about here.

Try and take things a step at a time for now and not over think the situation. Do remember most people referred to the breast clinic won't go on to be diagnosed with cancer.

I hope the appointment goes well but please get back if you need to. Whilst hearing from other people can be helpful remember there situation may be different from yours so it can be difficult to compare.

Take care and try not to worry

    Naomi
